Jeet Kune Do (Way of the Intercepting Fist) is a philosophy of martial arts founded in the 60s by Bruce Lee with support of Dan Inosanto and other friends and students like Taki Kimura and James Yimm Lee. The concept is based on Bruce Lee’s own style, the Jun Fan Gung Fu technique that emerged from Wing Chun which Lee judged too restrictive. He added elements from Boxing and several kicking techniques from Chinese methods. Jeet Kune Do can impossibly be studied without previous knowledge and even mastery of Jun Fan Gung Fu (Lee Jun Fan being Bruce Lee’s birth name).
Kali is a Philippine martial art based on a seamless transition between armed and unarmed combat as there is always a risk to loose one’s weapon whilst fighting and to remain unarmed.
